Brian Palmer
Just like many of the other Teamster retirees here that are part of the staff Brian Palmer Sr. has also had a very long and successful career in the industry.
- 1974 – Driver trainee.
- March – August 1974 – Yard shifter (trailer jockey) for Frito Lay in Fall River MA which is now the site of Walmart situated between Rt 195 and Rt. 24
- 1974 – 1978 – Edwards Motor Lines located in Westport MA. During his time working for Edwards he also spared for Roadway Express in Taunton, MA along with Schuster Express in Seekonk, MA
- 1978- 2008 ABF Freight which had moved into Fall River MA near the Braga Bridge and moved to Industrial Way in Seekonk, MA where they are still located today.
- 2008 – 2016 – Worked for Atria assisted living in Portsmouth, RI with a chauffer’s license transporting residents throughout the Aquidneck Island.
- 2016 – present – instructor at the driving school
Brian Palmer Sr. brings over 49 years of experience to the driving school in an out of the truck. Truth be told he even taught the Director Brian Jr. how to drive the commercial vehicle on weekends while working at ABF! Just as he did with Brian Jr., Brian Sr. has always put everyone ahead of himself and he brings this same mentality to the school every single day that he is in the yard or on the road. Any of the current and past trainees can always find him teaching the ever so crucial airbrake test along with training the ABF Driver Development trainees how to safely hook and unhook sets. Since joining the driving school just like the other trainers, Brian has helped to successfully train over 450 drivers many of which have found local employment and come back to see him on a regular basis.
